  • FAQ about Intensive Energy Trading University

1.I have attended several trading seminars. How is this programme different from the others?

Thus far this is the most complete and well-rounded training programme in the market that simply focuses on a close linkage of physical and financial markets. We have seen many financial traders who are struggling with intricacies of physical trade structures and pricing. On the other hand there are also many physical traders who underestimate the breadth of derivatives application in physical trade optimization. We bring it all together. We GUARANTEE there will be something new to learn for everyone who attends this programme.

2.How is this programme different from the Derivatives Traders School?

This programme is a well balanced mix of physical trading, operations, logistics, physical asset management, financial trading and risk management. The first module is of introductory nature and focuses more on fundamentals of physical trading. It sets the tone for a more advanced topics covered in the second module. In essence if you are interested in attending just a Derivatives Traders School you can signup just for the second module. However we highly recommend attending both parts.

3.I am a physical trader but never traded derivatives. Will I be able to grasp novel concepts of derivatives trading?

The reason this program runs much longer than standard two-day training seminars often found in the market is because we tend to pace all the complex concepts to the level of the participants’ prior subject knowledge. We tend to not leave anyone behind and spend extra time and effort getting the fundamentals right before diving into the more difficult subjects. By no means it is easy but you will learn … everyone does.

4.Our company is not currently trading derivatives nor runs risk management programmes. Why do I need to attend a second module of the programme?

To our own surprise most of our recent corporate training programmes were ordered by the companies that are not necessarily looking into trading themselves but want to clearly understand all commercial aspects of trading to be well equipped when valuing, negotiating and managing next deal. They want to speak the same language that their counterparties speak. We don’t care if you don’t ever trade in the future – we simply want you to understand how others trade and not give the value away.

5.Our front line traders are already experienced in financial trading. Why should we attend this programme?

The biggest mistake some traders make is assuming they know it all. It is especially common amongst physical traders. Many think derivatives trading is the same thing as flat price trading. They also tend to underestimate basis risk of hedging strategies and more importantly they are not aware of some more complex strategies of such basis risk management. Believe us there is a lot more to it. Also we do encourage not only front line traders attend this programme. Operations specialists, accountants, commercial managers and auditors are often the ones who are in real need to understand these subjects to be on the same page with traders and treasury professionals.

6.Will I get any certificates upon completion of the program?

We are proud to run this programme in cooperation with one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the industry – Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. All the attendees completed BOTH modules of the programme will be awarded a Continued Education Certificate for Oil and Gas Professionals endorsed by the GRSUOG. The participant attending only one module will be granted TradeCruiser certificates of completion.
